Plan your journey

How to get here

Fly into Phuket International Airport, choose a sensible arrival buffer and start your course just 10 kilometres from the terminal.

The simple answer

Book your flight to HKT

Phuket International Airport uses the code HKT. Whenever the schedule works, a direct flight to Phuket is easier than changing aircraft in Bangkok. If you need a connection, book the complete journey on one ticket so the airline is responsible for the onward connection if your first flight is delayed.

Phuket Yacht Haven Marina is in Mai Khao on the northeast coast, approximately 10 kilometres from the airport and normally around 20 minutes by road.

Course-friendly flights

When should you arrive and leave?

A normal five-day practical sailing course boards from Sunday at 17:00, finishes Friday at 16:00 and requires checkout by Saturday at 09:00. Your confirmed CourseRun times always take priority.

01

Best choice

Arrive on Saturday and stay near the marina. This protects your course from missed connections, baggage delays and jet lag.

02

Sunday arrival

If you must arrive on boarding day, target an HKT arrival no later than 13:00. Leave several hours for immigration, baggage and road transfer.

03

Return flight

Book your departure for Saturday after checkout. A flight from midday onwards provides a more comfortable margin for reaching the airport.

Avoid separate, unprotected tickets with short connections. If one flight is late, the next airline may treat you as a no-show. When separate tickets are unavoidable, allow a long connection or an overnight stop.

Recommended routes

The best way to fly from your region

Airline schedules are seasonal. Treat these as route-planning recommendations, then confirm operating days, baggage, connection protection and fare conditions directly with the airline.

Direct in winter; one stop year-round

United Kingdom

Virgin Atlantic launches a seasonal London Heathrow–Phuket service from 18 October 2026, operating three times weekly during the winter programme. Outside those dates, the simplest protected one-stop itineraries are normally via Doha, Dubai, Singapore or Bangkok.

Check non-stop HKT flights first

Mainland China

Phuket has direct services from several major Chinese cities, commonly including Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu and Kunming, but frequencies change by season. Search your home city to HKT first; Hong Kong, Bangkok, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur are practical alternatives when a direct flight does not suit.

Direct to Phuket

Hong Kong

Hong Kong is one of the easiest gateways. Cathay Pacific operates direct HKG–HKT services, with a typical flight time of about three and a half hours. HK Express is often the value-focused alternative; compare baggage allowances before booking sailing equipment.

Frequent direct services

Singapore

Singapore is an excellent direct origin and one of the most reliable connection points for travellers from Europe and Australia. Singapore Airlines offers the full-service option; Scoot is the lower-cost alternative. Check whether baggage and meals are included in the fare selected.

Direct from Kuala Lumpur or Penang

Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur has frequent direct links to Phuket, and AirAsia also publishes direct Penang–Phuket services. Kuala Lumpur works particularly well as a connection from elsewhere in Asia. Compare KLIA terminal details carefully when combining separate tickets.

Direct from Taipei when schedules align

Taiwan

STARLUX sells Taipei–Phuket itineraries and is the first route to check for a direct journey. If the operating days do not match your course, connect through Hong Kong, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur or Bangkok on one protected ticket.

Direct where offered; otherwise via Singapore

Australia

Jetstar operates direct Phuket services from selected Australian gateways, with Melbourne a key route and other cities varying by timetable. From cities without a suitable non-stop flight, Singapore is usually the cleanest connection; Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok can also work well.

Seasonal direct or one stop

Europe

Some winter schedules offer direct Phuket flights from European hubs, including Zurich with Edelweiss and Helsinki with Finnair. For most cities, a single connection through Dubai, Doha, Istanbul or Singapore gives the broadest choice and protects the full itinerary under one booking.

Pre-arranged transfer

The easiest option after a long flight. Where offered, add airport pickup during booking or ask the school to help coordinate a driver.

Airport taxi

Use an official airport transport counter or taxi service in the terminal. The marina's own guidance indicates a typical fare of approximately €15, subject to provider and traffic.

Grab or Bolt

App-based transfers are commonly available in Phuket. Confirm the pickup point shown in the app and enter Phuket Yacht Haven Marina as the destination.

Before you fly

  • Check your passport validity and Thai visa or visa-exemption eligibility for your own nationality.
  • All non-Thai nationals must complete the official Thailand Digital Arrival Card within three days before arrival, including the arrival date.
  • Buy travel insurance covering sailing, overseas medical care, cancellation, missed connections and baggage.
  • Keep your first night address, flight number and school contact details available for arrival formalities.
