Route overview
An indicative Andaman passage
If clear-water island stops and open-water sailing are your favourite part of a holiday, this is our southern five-day alternative. We head towards Maithon and Racha before crossing to Phi Phi and returning along Phuket's east coast. It leaves Lanta and Koh Rok to the longer programme, making space for relaxed life aboard. Cruising guests can enjoy the sailing without taking part in formal course exercises. The sailing programme runs Monday to Friday, with checkout by 17:00 on Friday. We confirm check-in and any early-boarding arrangements with your booking. The skipper adapts all visits and overnight positions to the forecast and the shared training week.

Day by day
Indicative passage plan
Each day is a planning framework, not a promise of a particular anchorage or activity. At five knots, a 50-mile leg requires roughly ten hours underway before pilotage and manoeuvring.
~28 nm mappedFollow Phuket's east coast south
After the safety briefing, settle into the yacht as we sail towards Maithon. This is likely to be one of the longer days of the cruise, so lunch and refreshments are planned aboard.
A swim may be possible once the yacht is secure. Shore access to Maithon is not included or guaranteed; the skipper chooses an appropriate nearby overnight anchorage.
~12 nm mappedA shorter sail, with time to enjoy the island
Continue towards Racha Yai and choose a bay that suits the wind and swell. The shorter passage gives us room for swimming, informal sailing practice or simply relaxing aboard.
Activities depend on safe access and the needs of the shared course. We do not promise a particular beach, mooring or landing.
~26 nm mappedCross the bay to Phi Phi
Enjoy a purposeful sailing day towards Phi Phi. Watch the changing scenery, ask the instructor about life aboard or take an informal turn at the helm when appropriate.
After arrival, the skipper will discuss any opportunities to swim or go ashore. Phi Phi Leh is an optional diversion, not part of the core passage or a guaranteed visit.
~25 nm mappedTurn back towards Phuket
Enjoy breakfast aboard before sailing northwest towards Phuket's east coast. This is the principal return passage, bringing us closer to the marina before the final day.
Koh Rang Yai is the planned overnight area, with time to unwind if progress and conditions allow. A different sheltered stop may be chosen to protect the return window.
~17 nm mappedAn easy finish to the week
Make the shorter coastal passage back to Yacht Haven, leaving room for pilotage, a final debrief and packing. The skipper coordinates arrival with the marina and the shared course programme.
Checkout is by 17:00 on Friday. Additional swimming stops are optional; a comfortable, reliable return takes priority.
